Destiny StaffordTo know Destiny was to love Destiny.  She could brighten anyone’s day with her beautiful smile and her contagious laugh.  Destiny was one of the kindest most loving child you could ever meet.

She was captain of her high school cheer team as a freshman and was going to be captain again as a sophomore at Stuart W. Cramer High School.  Destiny received the Spirit Award for her cheerleading.

Her favorite pastime was going to her aunt’s house on the weekends and riding her father’s horse.  On July, 25, 2015 Destiny was involved in a horseback riding accident. She fell off the  horse and as she started to stand up the horse turned and kicked her in the head. Destiny was rushed to Levine’s Children’s Hospital where doctors and nurses took such great care of her.

On July 27, 2015 doctors confirmed that she was brain dead and would not survive. Her parents made a selfless decision that night and one they knew Destiny would want as well. Destiny’s family chose the gift of life. They chose to donate her organs so others could live on.

Although their grief is immeasurable, Destiny’s family has been transformed by the hope and happiness of those that were saved by Destiny’s gift.

Destiny’s heart gave the gift of life to a 17-year-old boy. One of her kidneys went to a 53-year-old woman and the other to a 61-year-old woman. Her liver saved the life of two individuals a 23-month-old boy and a 63-year-old woman. Her lungs allowed a 14-year-old old girl battling cystic fibrosis to live an additional two months.

Although Destiny’s life ended way too soon, her spirit continues to LIVE ON in others. Destiny has touched thousands of people’s lives and even in her passing she continues to change the lives of others. Because of Destiny and the Destiny Lives On Foundation countless people have decided to become organ donors and many lives will be saved as a result. She is an inspiration that will live on forever.
